A Spiritual Life Coach does not do therapeutic work as a psychotherapist does. A Spiritual Life Coach is a teacher, not an analyst. It's the Spiritual Life Coach's job to facilitate coaching exercises to help their clients rapidly achieve their goals and desires. It's not about "being in therapy for years" it's about achieving the goals pinpointed during session.
Who Do Spiritual Life Coaches Work With?

Maieutic Coaching Method
As a Spiritual Life Coach, I use HLC’s exclusive Maieutic Coaching Method. This technique is based on the concept that a person already possesses an innate spiritual understanding of their own Truth, sufficient enough to remedy it. The Maieutic Coaching Method allows my coaching clients to experience their Inner truth through a process of discovery, which validates their own Inner Self-awareness.
As a seasoned Spiritual Life Coach, the thing I like the best about using HLC’s Maieutic Coaching Method is that it ignites the divinity within the soul of the coaching client I’m working with.
Three decades of field experience have taught me that the most effective way for a coach to facilitate psycho-spiritual issues, is by asking Clinically Tested Maieutic Questions, rather than providing information, lecturing, or analyzing--- the way a trained therapist would.
Most spiritual life coaches use the didactic coaching method, which relies on the Coach’s knowledge to analyze and/or explain. At HLC we do not teach this method.
What Can Go Wrong
Three Things Can Go Wrong Being Professionally Untrained and Using the didactic method:
- the opinion of the coach might be incorrect, in whole or in part.
- the coach’s opinion might be correct, but the client will feel accused, and reject it in a process of egoic denial.
- life coaches are NOT trained to work with people who have mental health issues the way psychotherapists are.
I must admit, that as a professional coach who started doing this work in 1977, it disturbs me that there are hundreds of non-certified life coaches who are counseling their clients with neither a license, nor the professional training needed to do so.
