Let Go of Yearning and You
Can Have It All
by Larry Crane & Hu Dalconzo
In the orient during the year 527BC, Buddha gave
us his Four Noble Truths:
1. Suffering is an inherent aspect of physical life (so accept
it).
2. DESIRE is the cause of most suffering (i.e. yearning for what
you do not have).
3. Detaching from yearning for what you do not have.. ends suffering.
4. Buddha's method for how to detach from yearning, and how to
live a Self-mastered life.
This is called the Eight-Fold Path.
Twenty-five hundred years after Buddha taught us that detachment
ends suffering.. most of us still yearn for what we do not
have.
One reason we still yearn for what we do not have is because our
capitalistic society programs us to believe that we need "things"
to be happy. Capitalism's success is based on fostering the desire
that we "must have" consumer goods to survive. Advertisers plant
millions of subliminal messages into our subconscious minds until
we finally falsely believe that our love, safety and security
are directly relative to how many consumer goods we have. And
after hearing hundreds of thousands of hours of advertisements,
why wouldn't we unconsciously "think" that love, safety and security
is based upon how much power, position and money we can accumulate?
THE METAPHYSICS OF DESIRE
For a moment I want you to reflect on what happens when you
want something so badly that your desire feels like a constant
yearning for the thing that you do not have.
To want something in this way means that you feel, at a deep emotional
level, that you don't have it. Yearning for anything makes you
feel empty, lonely or deprived. You falsely believe that to be
happy, safe or successful you must possess the object of your
desire. Behind all yearning and desire is a motivation to be happy
and a false belief that, "When I get what I want then I'll be
happy."
The Law of Detachment teaches us that desire, which is the yearning
for what you do not have, actually pushes the object of your desires
away. IT IS THE PROBLEM, NOT THE SOLUTION. When you desire something
so badly that you find yourself yearning for it, your yearning
(because of the Law of Attraction) does not manifest the object
of your desires. What your yearning attracts is more wanting,
lack and yearning.
If you felt whole NOW you would not yearn for things that you
do not have. If you were happy in the NOW you would not project
your happiness into the future when you will hopefully fulfill
your desires. You cannot be happy in the future; you can only
be happy in the NOW. You may have been happy in the past, but
that memory cannot make you happy in the NOW.
A HU NOTE: Yearning for what you want is an unconscious
feeling of lack rooted in the fear
that you must have what you want to be safe, loved or happy. You
falsely think that, "I must have
it no matter what." This powerful yearning is a fear-based
emotion that metaphysically pushes
what you desire further away from you instead of closer
to you.
The very act of wanting actually creates a separation between
you and the object of your desires. This separation creates fear-based
actions that are strained because they are rooted in emotional
struggle. Struggle dysempowers you because struggle is effort
that is laced with negative feelings. For example, did you ever
want a new job, a lover or money so badly that you "could taste
it?"
What happened? Usually, you don't get what you want because you
are too uptight, tense and stressed, and therefore your behaviors
are fear-based, weak and inappropriate. Your yearning, wanting
and struggle creates an invisible level of negative causation,
which short-circuits your actions and inhibits your natural flow
of abundance and sets up a duality that makes it very difficult
for you to get what you want.
DESIRE IS THE OPPOSITE OF HAVING
Yearning for your desires inhibits you from getting what you
want, whereas letting go of your fear-based desires will actually
help you to get what you desire. You can use the four Self-mastery
disciplinas and the other action lessons to get into a state of
being-ness where you feel that you already have what you want.
As you study, practice and emotionalize your Self-mastery
action lessons your fear-based yearnings will begin to disappear,
which will make it a lot easier for you to receive the abundance
that you so richly deserve as a child of God.
This means that instead of yearning after something you do not
have yet, you calmly and methodically create a state of inner
peace until you feel that you already have that which you seek.
Then, as Christ taught us.. it is yours already! By doing this
you are consciously using the Universal Law of Detachment, which
opens the flow of your divine energy so that what you want flows
easily to you. As long as you do this knowing that you only need
to tell the God Force "what" and She, in perfect order, will decide
"when" and "how."
As a child of God, it is normal and natural for you to have what
you want. The having is not a problem. The problem is your fear-based
yearnings (the "afraid I'm not going to get it" feeling) which
inhibits you from manifesting your desires.
"Everyone wants something. It arises from the pain of not
having something that you think will make you feel safe, happy
or loved. Rid yourself of desires and you too can have it all."
LARRY CRANE
This explains why the old expression that "the rich get richer
and the poor get poorer" is correct. A rich person doesn't
want money because she already feels wealthy, thus making
it easy for her through the Law of Detachment and Attraction to
create even more money. Whereas a poor person wants, needs and
therefore yearns for money, which attracts more lack,
not more money.
