SPIRITUAL RELATIONSHIP COVENANTS

12-30-10
Hu Dalconzo- Spiritual Life Coach & Founder

Spiritual relationship covenants create a “Spirit-First Rules of Order” which will give you and your partner some relationship guidelines to follow. These covenants will help you create new relationship habits that will help empower your relationships while improving your emotional intimacy.

A Spiritual relationship covenant is a living document, which requires you to continually update, improve, and change it based upon your spiritual growth… from relative truth to Absolute Truth.

I suggest that you use these seven Spiritual Covenants as a template that you can use to customize your own covenants based on your unique relationship models.

SEVEN Spiritual Covenants:

ONE- The primary purpose for being in a spiritually based, loving relationship is to support each other’s spiritual growth.

TWO- A Spiritual partnership is a covenant based on the highest degree of truth and integrity. Spiritual partners recognize their equality, by acknowledging that they are unique manifestations of the same Spirit. They are capable of seeing through any negative human identities that may emerge. Instead, they focus on the Spirit that they share, the Namasté Consciousness within them where they are spiritually ONE.

THREE- Being in a committed, consciously awakened Spiritual Relationship creates inner satisfaction and an environment that supports spiritual growth. As a child of God, you deserve to be empowered by a relationship that fulfills your emotional and spiritual needs. Within this nurturing space you can more easily develop your spiritual skills, because this environment creates the fertile ground that is necessary for you to grow at your optimum rate. Your relationship skills will continue to grow because you both understand that your relationship is an ongoing process. Your continual growth prevents boredom and stagnation, and enhances your inspirational creativity. Your spiritual relationship creates an environment that enhances and supports the continual growth and development of your inner spiritual Self.

FOUR- Spiritual partners bond with the understanding that they are together because it is appropriate for their Souls to grow together. Spiritual partners pledge to handle all decisions from a holistic perspective defined as: “What benefits the relationship the most benefits me the most.”

FIVE- Spiritual partners recognize that the partnership is always in the process of holistic growth, and therefore flexibility and commitment to truth is essential. To quote Mahatma Gandhi, “In life I am committed to truth, not consistency.” A spiritual partnership requires education, commitment, flexibility, love, and unconditional acceptance.

SIX- Spiritual partnerships are much freer and more open than the old-world models. They leave behind the stereotypical roles that exist merely for survival and protection. Instead they seek to align themselves with Universal Spirit for the purpose of spiritual evolution and emotional growth. Spiritual partners know that as they align themselves with Spirit, success and prosperity will follow. They choose to place their attention and intention on developing their Divine Self for the purpose of their own growth, the growth of their relationship, and that of the Global Spiritual Awakening.

SEVEN- By choosing to be in a spiritual relationship, you are choosing to respond to your partner with compassion and love instead of fear and doubt. This will help you to create a New-World Model. You bring your Responsibility Communication skills to all of your relationships, which manifests a more harmonious and serene life for you and all be-ings that you come in contact with.

All partnerships are spiritual, whether or not the individuals have agreed consciously to be spiritual partners. The difference between those that are conscious of the law that the partner serves as a spiritual mirror and those that are unconscious of this is the lack of choice to choose their behavior. Those that are conscious of the spiritual nature of the significant other can apply the Spiritual Covenants above as a framework for their relationship. Those that are unaware that their partner is a spiritual mirror will reject the partner for being different from their opinion of what their partner should be and/or blame the partner for being the reason they don’t have what they desire in their life. They cannot see that the partner is the mirror of who they are being. Who are they being that they’re disrespected? Who are they being that they’re not listened to? Who are they being that they’re feared by their partner? Who are they being that they’re adored? Sometimes, the reflection is quite unflattering. Sometimes, the relection tells us how blessed we are to be who we are. When I’m conscious, I get to choose. Love to you!

Is Your Spiritual Partner Your Best Counselor Or Your Worst Critic?

    12-14-10
Hu Dalconzo- Spiritual Life Coach & Founder

If we view our spiritual partners as our best counselors rather than our worst critic, they will mirror back to us that which we most need to heal. The term mirroring means to see the external world as a mirror that reflects back to you the aspects of yourself that you can’t see directly. When you use life as a mirror, your experiences give you an instant, ongoing reflection of your Self.

The more you invest in developing loving, consciously awakened, soft, caring, open relationships, the more you’ll relax about your life. The more you relax about your life, the more your relationships will flow with effortless ease, and that is why being in a consciously awakened, spiritual relationship is a treasure beyond value.

Spiritual relationships require us to educate our Selves about the ways in which our spiritual partners were emotionally wounded. With this knowledge we can help them heal by avoiding words or deeds that unconsciously trigger their tender feelings. We can also help to deaccess them when they get emotionally triggered. Concurrently, this will help us to not take their “pain” caused by their emotional upset personally.

Intimacy creates emotional safety. When we feel safe and passionate, this creates the fertile ground in which spiritual relationships can blossom. Spiritual relationships are built upon emotional honesty, and emotional honesty takes courage. This kind of courage is built upon trust, which develops as spiritual partners learn, through experience, that within our relationship it is emotionally safe to share our feelings.

It is this trust and emotional safety which allows us to be emotionally intimate. And it is this emotional intimacy that transforms our spiritual relationships into “heaven on earth.”

Let’s say WoundedPerson is emotionally triggered by WiseOne. WiseOne points out to WoundedPerson that he’s being triggered because of unresolved past wound but WoundedPerson resists it.
    1. WoundedPerson can reclaim his power by being vulnerable to surface the origin of the triggered emotion and heal it.
    Or,
    2. WiseOne can shift his energy to create the safety WoundedPerson needs to drop his Ego-defenses so that healing is possible.

There is always an opportunity to grow and evolve in any conflict. The questions to ask are “Am I willing to shift?” and “Do I trust my Self to be safe enough to shift?”

    Spiritual Relationships Require Inner Work

    12-6-10
Hu Dalconzo- Spiritual Life Coach & Founder

Many years ago I worked with an HLC co-worker who in her previous occupation was an accomplished, corporate insurance executive. One day, after working for HLC for only a few weeks, she stopped in mid stride, looked deeply into my eyes, and with total emotional honesty said, “Being in a spiritual relationship is hard work!”

What my co-worker was sharing with me was how challenging it is to work for a spiritual organization where she was expected to consistently “walk her talk” 24-7. By walking her talk I am referring to the lessons defined in Lesson # 6 in the Self-Mastery… A Journey Home To Your Self book; such as using Responsibility Communication, Boundary Protection, and Emotional Validation.

My co-worker stated that she found it “hard” to walk her spiritual relationship’s talk; this is a valid, emotionally honest statement. It is “hard” because we are being held to a higher set of spiritually-based rules. We are saying to the world that, “I am committed to walk my spiritual relationship talk.”

After eight teen years of being the founder of a spirit first school, I humbly share with you that I still all too often, find it “hard” to perform these spiritual exercises 24/7. This is especially “hard” when my childlike f.e.a.r. identities have been triggered, or when my boundaries of intrusion or distance are being violated.

Spiritual relationships are the closet thing to heaven that we can experience on earth. They come in all different shapes and sizes (i.e. Mother – Daughter; Husband – Wife; Spiritual Life Coach – Student; Resident – Training Supervisor; etc).

If you are committed to “walking your talk” then being in a spiritually committed relationship will be a worth while challenge, as well as a positive reminder to walk your spiritual relationship talk.

When you have “fallen off the Spirit-first wagon” your spiritual relationships will mirror back to you your positive and negative beliefs, and they will show you when you need to quickly “observe and correct” your less than perfect behavior.

Dude, I wish I could write articles half as good as you. Your posts are always so well written. Do you outsource it or write it yourself?

    • admin on December 23, 2010 at 6:18 pm | Reply |

Yes, the founder Hu Dalconzo writes all of his own materials and articles. He is also the author of HLC’s foundational textbook- Self-Mastery a Journey Home to Yourself located here on the website http://www.holisticlearningcenter.com/products-services-selfmastery
But if you asked Hu himself he would say he is the conduit to which all of his research of best spiritual philosophers, teachers and gurus flows through, he simply puts it all together in one place.
